The last time Luis Suarez started a game for Atletico Madrid it was the league match before the first leg against Manchester United, and he scored one of the goals of the season in a 3-0 win. But it didn’t alter his place some way down the pecking order under Diego Simone this season.
Suarez didn’t get a minute in the Champions League game that followed, he hasn’t started since and he’ll be back on the bench on Tuesday night for the second leg at Old Trafford.
The 35-year-old knows he will leave Atletico Madrid at the end of this season.
