Pep Guardiola believes breaking their Anfield hoodoo could prove Manchester City are ready to conquer Europe this season.
City have not won at Liverpool for 15 years, losing 14 of their last 20 Premier League games there.
Guardiola - who said 'records are there to be broken' - reckons Sunday's clash will serve as a barometer of what his side can achieve in the coming months as they hunt a quadruple.
'Of course if you want to achieve something that's good and win titles you have to win these kind of games,' the Catalan said.
