Manchester United have suffered another injury setback, after it emerged Casemiro asked to come off in Brazil's World Cup qualifier against Venezuela with an ankle issue.

The Red Devils have launched an investigation into the high number of players absent with knocks, but the problem might have been exacerbated in South America.

Casemiro, the Brazil captain, asked to be withdrawn after 79 minutes of Thursday's game against Venezuela, and he was replaced by Andre.

On the status of the 31-year-old, Brazil manager Fernando Diniz announced: 'He asked to come off due to a blow to his ankle.
