Eighteen months after becoming a Manchester City player, Patrick Roberts is finally set to start a match at the Etihad Stadium – playing against Pep Guardiola's team in the Champions League for his loan club Celtic.
Though it's probably not what the 19-year-old expected when he was hyped as the next big thing in English football after signing from Fulham, it nevertheless gives the exciting young forward a shop window to show not only Guardiola but other Premier League managers what he can do.
When City, then managed by Manuel Pellegrini, signed Roberts for £11million in the summer of 2015, it was hailed as a shrewd move given the homegrown player rules in the Premier League.
