Arsenal beat Manchester City on penalties at Wembley to lift the Community Shield and deny the Treble winners yet another trophy.
It looked as though City would be adding more silverware to their Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup triumphs last season when substitute Cole Palmer fired them ahead with an excellent goal in the 77th minute.
However, the Gunners equalised in the 101st minute when Leandro Trossard’s shot was deflected in off Manuel Akanji to force a penalty shoot-out.
Martin Odegaard, Trossard, Bukayo Saka and, decisively, Fabio Vieira converted Arsenal’s four attempts, while Kevin De Bruyne hit the bar for City and Aaron Ramsdale saved from Rodri.
