New college football award named in honor of Jason Witten

The NFL has the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award honoring a player's volunteer and charity work, as well as his excellence on the field.

Last year's winner was New Orleans native Eli Manning of the New York Giants.

Starting this season, college football will have a similar honor.

The Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year, named in honor of former Tennessee and current Dallas Cowboys tight end, will be given annually to the FBS player "who has demonstrated a record of leadership by exhibiting exceptional courage, integrity and sportsmanship both on and off the field.
