LSU gymnastics places 2nd in NCAA championships, the highest finish in school history

Oklahoma ended Florida's three-year run of team titles at the NCAA women's gymnastics championships Saturday night.

The Sooners, who shared the 2014 title with the Gators, scored 197.675 points and held off a late surge by second-place LSU on the final event to win the school's second national championship.

Florida, which finished fourth, knew its run was over before the final routine when LSU's team score passed the Gators after the Tigers posted four scores of 9.9 or better on vault.

LSU scored 197.45, and Alabama was third at 197.4375 in its ninth straight Super Six finals.
