LSU guard Will Clapp being groomed to play center in 2017

LSU junior-to-be guard Will Clapp has been working out at center, according to multiple sources.

The Tigers are faced with replacing stalwart Ethan Pocic at center this fall, and Clapp will be given the chance to fill the void. The 6-foot-5, 309-pounder has been practicing snapping, watching film on the position, and is being groomed for his first season as a center.

Clapp was placed at center when he originally enrolled at LSU, after playing offensive tackle in his prep career, but he initially struggled at the position, prompting LSU to move him over to guard, where he was awarded Freshman All-American honors by the Football Writers Association of America, USA Today and The Sporting News in 2015, his redshirt freshman year.
