It's been Dome, sweet Dome, for some of the SEC's most memorable moments

ATLANTA - This weekend, I'm here to bid farewell to you my old friend before you're torn down and replaced next year by a spiffier state-of-the-art stadium.

Yes, Georgia Dome, we've been through a lot together the past 25 years, in fact, 38 occasions covering 75 days. That's about 21/2 months of my life in your presence, and it has rarely been dull.

Like the 2001 SEC championship football game when a backup quarterback named Matt Mauck came off the bench to lead LSU to a 31-20 upset of No. 2 Tennessee. Mauck replaced starter Rohan Davey, who bruised his ribs in the first half and didn't play in the second half.
