Deep statistical analysis shows Leonard Fournette had deck stacked against him at LSU

Leonard Fournette had incredible production at LSU, rushing for nearly 4,000 yards across three seasons.

When you consider that the Tigers had a poor passing offense throughout his time at the school, it only becomes more impressive and the stats prove it.

Former NFL scout Chris Landry wrote as much recently about just how much opposing defenses focused on Fournette during his LSU career.

“Got this incredible stat from a friend in the Scouting profession—Based on film breakdown, LSU RB Leonard Fournette faced 8-plus box defenders on 67% of his runs,” Landry writes. “The average for this many defenders is 31%, so the attention placed on Fournette by defenses is unusually strong and reflective of LSU unimaginative and poor passing attack.
