SACS confirms accreditation worries

By Kyeland Jackson —

Governor Matt Bevin’s executive actions may have endangered U of L’s accreditation.

First reported by the Associated Press, A letter from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools president said the university has significant accreditation-related issues. SACS is the accrediting body for U of L, and based the conclusion on factual information.

The August 25 SACS letter, sent to Acting President Neville Pinto, said U of L may be out of compliance because of Ramsey’s removal, the possible political influence of Bevin’s chosen trustees and the erroneous dismissal of the original board.
