Brendan McKay named John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year

As far as dominant freshman seasons go, you may have to go all the way back to Pervis Ellison to find a Cardinal who matches up with U of L star pitcher/first baseman Brendan McKay. McKay added to his already loaded trophy case by being named the the 2015 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year on Monday by the National College Baseball Hall of Fame.

The award, named for the Washington State star who achieved success as both a first baseman and a left-handed pitcher, will be presented Monday night in Lubbock, Texas, at the Hall of Fame's annual Night of Champions event, along with the National Pitcher of the Year Award, the Brooks Wallace Award for most outstanding shortstop, and the Skip Bertman National Coach of the Year Award.
