Thomas on NFL: Greatness comes with a catch for Beckham

The last time Odell Beckham Jr. played the Rams, he was nothing more than a rookie phenom. Oh, he was confident, maybe cocky. But the only news he made back then was for catching passes — some in amazing fashion — and scoring lots of touchdowns.

That all changed during that Dec. 21, 2014 contest at the Edward Jones Dome. During the game, Rams defenders T.J. McDonald and Alec Ogletree were penalized for roughing up Beckham on separate plays. Ogletree drove Beckham well out of bounds near the New York Giants sideline, precipitating a bench-clearing brawl.

When order was restored, William Hayes of the Rams, plus wide receiver Preston Parker and defensive end Damontre’ Moore of the Giants, were all ejected.
