Rams' Jared Goff returns home for MNF, but won't be storybook start some hoped for

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The 2016 schedule was released only a couple of weeks before the draft. And when the Los Angeles Rams selected Jared Goff No. 1 overall, many in the northern California area instantly realized Goff's new team would open its season on "Monday Night Football". In Levi's Stadium, about 60 miles south of Goff's hometown. Against the San Francisco 49ers, the team Goff grew up rooting for.

"You couldn't have written a better script -- be the No. 1 guy, come back home for your regular-season opener, have it be a big homecoming party," Mazi Moayed, Goff's coach at Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield, California, said.
