COLUMBIA, MO. • It had been more than four months since Michael Scherer heard the roar of a crowd behind his back on the football field.
In the seventh game of Missouri’s season last fall, the senior linebacker shredded two knee ligaments, ending his college career. On Thursday, surrounded by old teammates and coaches, Scherer continued his comeback with a roar that thundered through the Mizzou weight room.
His right knee surgically repaired and healing faster than expected, Scherer took part in MU’s pro scouting day and performed a limited number of tests, perhaps well enough to raise his stock for next month’s NFL draft.
