Lakers reach deal with Tyler Ennis

The Lakers decided to bolster their backcourt by retaining a player they had liked. They agreed to a one-year minimum deal with Tyler Ennis, according to league sources familiar with the situation. The Lakers also have a team option on his second year.

The Lakers had talks with veteran guards Rajon Rondo and Derrick Rose, but they chose New Orleans and Cleveland, respectively, because of anticipated heightened roles on playoff-contending teams. So, the Lakers narrowed in on Ian Clark and Ennis to fill out the rest of their roster for various reasons.

The 22-year-old Ennis would primarily play at the backup point guard spot behind rookie Lonzo Ball.
