First-term Councilman Scott Peotter of Newport Beach is being targeted for a recall, according to documents filed with the city.
A group called the Committee to Recall Scott Peotter filed paperwork with the city April 5 with the intent of booting the conservative council member.
The form names Jen Slater as the group’s treasurer and Marilyn Brewer as its principal. It was unclear Monday if Brewer is the former Republican state Assemblywoman of the same name who represented Newport Beach from 1994-2000.
Calls to both women and emails to the organization were not returned.
Peotter, whose term ends in November 2018, said he knows of both Slater and Brewer but has never met them.
