Much of the basketball world expected the Lakers to make a coaching change this summer, but Byron Scott said he was still “a little blindsided” by the organization’s decision not to pick up the third-year option on his contract.
“They knew the situation was going to take a few years (to rebuild),” Scott said during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show on Monday, “and they had given me the knowledge that we’re with you we’re behind you, we know it’s going to take two or three years to get this turned around.”
On Friday, the Lakers hired former Lakers forward Luke Walton to replace Scott.
