Holmes shot just 38.9 percent from the field as a senior at Texas, but he showed off a more polished touch in Summer League, going 26-of-54 (44.4 percent) and knocking down all 15 of his free throw attempts.
“Draft night was kind of hard,” Holmes said on Aug. 14. “I got together in Summer League and tried to do my best out there. I have a chance with the Lakers, so it’s just a good feeling.”
Holmes’ summer experience peaked with a 15-point, 10-rebound performance against Philadelphia on July 12, but he still must prove that he can maintain similar production on a consistent basis.
