Kings see Oilers in farewell visit to Rexall

OIL COUNTRY:

FAREWELL, REXALL: Tonight marks the Kings’ final (regular season) visit to Edmonton’s Rexall Place, which is currently the NHL’s second-oldest building behind New York’s Madison Square Garden. The Oilers will move into the brand-new Rogers Place next season, stationed on the north end of downtown Edmonton. One thing that’s always graced the Oilers’ home since 1974 is the quality of its ice: “I think it is,” Marian Gaborik said of Rexall having the best ice in the NHL. “I think anybody could tell you that, and I think it’s one, because it’s cold, but the other thing is they take good care of the ice, and it’s always been great.
