On April 23rd, a Wednesday night, the NHL announced Los Angeles Kings All-Star Anze Kopitar as one of the three finalists for the Selke Trophy.
The Frank J. Selke Trophy is awarded to the NHL forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game.
Kopitar is accompanied by Chicago Blackhawks superstar centermen Jonathan Toews and the reigning Selke winner, Boston Bruins centermen Patrice Bergeron.
Before Bergeron won last year, Toews won the Selke award in 2013. Toews would go on to be the first player to lift the Stanley Cup for the Blackhawks that year.
