Final: Marlins turn on Clayton Kershaw, hand Dodgers 6-3 defeat

/ STAFF WRITER

LOS ANGELES -- Maybe just for a split second, out of an unconscious reflex, Don Mattingly might have wondered to himself – did I leave Clayton Kershaw in too long?

Kershaw was masterful for five innings against his former manager’s new team, retiring 16 of the first 17 batters he faced (half of them on strikeouts) and taking a one-hit shutout into the sixth inning Tuesday night.

Then the wheels came off that Maserati. After the first batter was retired, the Miami Marlins pounded out five consecutive hits against Kershaw culminating with a thunderclap – a three-run home run by Giancarlo Stanton that sent them to a 6-3 victory over the Dodgers.
