Dodgers Lose Hometown Reliever to Phillies on Waiver Wire Deal

The short-lived era of Dylan Covey, Los Angeles Dodger is over. The veteran reliever was DFA’d after a one game stint with the club earlier in the week and has now been claimed on waivers by the Philadelphia Phillies.

The hometown kid grew up 15 minutes from Dodger Stadium and called it a dream to pitch for the team he grew up rooting for. Unfortunately, the recently evolving Dodger bullpen cost him a roster spot, even if the team had hopes of keeping him.

Covey, 31, was clutch for LA in his lone appearance, tossing 4 unexpected innings after Dustin May was injured on Wednesday afternoon.
