Cole Figueroa declines outright assignment by Dodgers, now a free agent

LOS ANGELES -- Infielder Cole Figueroa cleared waivers and was sent outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City by the Dodgers, but he refused the assignment and is now a free agent.

Figueroa's time with the Dodgers was brief. He was 6-for-19 (.316) with a triple and three walks in six games in Triple-A Oklahoma City, stealing three bases and scoring five runs. He started three games at shortstop, two games at third base and once second base.

The Dodgers claimed Figueroa off waivers from the Pirates on June 28, but in need of space on the 40-man roster for the call up of outfielder Andrew Toles the club designated Figueroa for assignment on Friday.
