Brett Anderson keeps getting better, even in Dodgers' 2-1 loss to Cardinals

Dodgers pitcher Brett Anderson throws to the plate during Friday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Dodger Stadium.

LOS ANGELES – It had been a long time since Brett Anderson pitched into the eighth inning.

Until Friday night at Dodger Stadium, the last time the left-hander lasted that long was May 26, 2011, at Angel Stadium. Since then, Anderson has changed teams twice, underwent two serious surgeries and generally has struggled to re-establish himself as the high-potential major-league pitcher he once was.

Slowly and surely this season, he has regained some of that sheen.
