Dodgers lose to Mets, 2-1

LOS ANGELES – It was the perfect scenario for Clayton Kershaw.

The slumping New York Mets were in town Friday for the start of a three-game weekend series at Dodger Stadium, and the Dodgers ace had never lost to the Mets in five career starts.

Plus, the Mets had dropped 10 of their past 14 games, including three straight to the Chicago Cubs.

But like many other nights this season, Kershaw left without a victory.

Kershaw, who threw seven solid innings, wasn’t around to see the Mets scratch out a 2-1 victory.

The Mets scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly by catcher Kevin Plawecki in the top of the ninth for the victory in front of 52,570, many of whom came for the postgame fireworks.
