How was that for the old legacy?
If it’s spring, everyone must be asking 29-year-old Chris Paul if he’ll consider his career complete without winning a title, which, of course, he won’t.
Amazingly, his greatness is taken as a given at the same time. If he scores 34 points, leading the Clippers to the Game 4 win that no one thought they would get in San Antonio, it’s barely remarked upon.
Not that there’s much to say beyond J.J. Redick’s reaction at a similar moment this season:
“Chris is Chris.”
When interviewed on the floor in San Antonio, Paul lauded Austin Rivers.
