Former Los Angeles Chargers star running back Austin Ekeler plans to sign a two-year deal worth up to $11 million with the Washington Commanders, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday.

Ahead of the 2023 season, Ekeler, in the final year of a four-year $24.1 million contract he signed in 2020, demanded a trade after he and the Chargers couldn't agree to a long-term extension. Eventually, Ekeler returned on a revised deal with added incentives.

Ekeler, 28, had one of the worst years of his career in 2023.
