As the Chargers move on, some competition is brewing among soccer folks who seek San Diego’s favor.
Competition of this ilk is a welcomed change.
But it’s not a cage fight, like those between cities looking to underwrite NFL teams in years past and still today.
Word of the North American Soccer League’s planned entry, reported Sunday by the U-T’s Mark Zeigler, comes days after Major League Soccer’s bid for San Diego was put off until a November 2018 vote.
Sounding soccer-cuddly, a would-be NASL rep described MLS as a “nice rival.
