MTS seeks negotiation start on Chargers stadium

One of the Chargers' more formidable hurdles in building a downtown stadium – relocating a nearly 8-acre bus yard on the project site – may be more easily overcome than originally thought.

While the cost and timeline are still sizable, the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System, which owns the key parcel, says it is ready to start negotiating a sale of the property.

The overture, made in a letter obtained by the Voice of San Diego, comes as the Chargers move closer to unveiling their financing plan for a $1.8 billion joint stadium and convention center facility east of Petco Park.
