Chargers rival thrived after microfracture surgery

The Chargers will be thrilled if Melvin Gordon follows Travis Kelce's path.

In the wake of microfracture knee surgery three Octobers ago at age 24, Kelce was spry and quick for the Kansas City Chiefs. He moved too fast for opponents, including the Chargers.

Following the surgery, the sophomore tight end ripped off a breakout season in 2014. He made the 2015 Pro Bowl. Kelce, who weighs 255 pounds, caught eight passes five months ago in a playoff game.

NFL sophomore Gordon, 23, had microfracture knee surgery five months ago, reported the U-T's Michael Gehlken this week.
