Final: Another encouraging outing for Alex Meyer as Angels top A’s, 8-6

ANAHEIM - Alex Meyer completed his 2016 audition with the Angels with another encouraging performance.

Meyer, the key player the Angels wanted in a deadline trade with the Minnesota Twins, gave up two runs in the Angels’ 8-6 victory over the Oakland A’s on Wednesday night.

Mike Trout left the game in the eighth after he was hit in the shoulder by a pitch. There was no immediate word on the severity of the injury.

Meyer gave up two runs in the first inning, and then tacked on three scoreless frames, finishing off his fifth start since being recalled at the start of the month.
