Angels experimenting with Kyle Kubitza at second base

ANAHEIM – With several holes to fill on next year’s team, the Angels are trying to explore a new option.

Kyle Kubitza, who was acquired last winter with the idea that he could become the Angels’ everyday third baseman in 2016, began working out at second base after he was recalled to the majors on Tuesday.

“He’s going to work out at second and we’ll see where it leads long term,” Manager Mike Scioscia said. “We still view him as a candidate to be an everyday third baseman, but it’s not going to hurt if he can play second.
