Final: Angels score 9 in one inning to pound Red Sox 12-5

BOSTON – The last time Garrett Richards pitched at Fenway Park, it felt like an explosion in his knee.

This time, the explosion came from the Angels hitters. Richards, who suffered his knee injury last August in Boston, sat in the dugout and watched for 39 minutes while his teammates batted 13 times on their way to nine runs in the fifth inning.

By the time the night was over, the Angels had a 12-5 victory over the Boston Red Sox and their season-long offensive struggles seemed like a distant memory.

It was the Angels’ most productive inning since April 20, 2013, which coincidentally also was started by Rick Porcello, who was with the Detroit Tigers.
