UK Sepsis Trust to bring awareness campaign to Anfield

Volunteers from the charity will be will be handing out information on sepsis in the club’s Family Park before kick-off on Sunday, encouraging fans to be aware of the potentially deadly infection.

Every year in the UK, sepsis, or blood poisoning, kills 44,000 people. Sepsis can affect anyone and is the reaction to an infection in which the body attacks its own organs. If not identified and treated quickly, it can rapidly lead to organ failure and death, and can leave thousands of survivors with life-altering disabilities.

Annually across Merseyside, approximately 961 people die from sepsis and over 1,300 people will suffer permanent, life-changing after-effects.
