Fellow defender John Brayford is cup tied but Kyle McFadzean should be fit despite suffering a head injury, and Tom Flanagan (thigh) could return.
Liverpool are unlikely to make wholesale changes but striker Divock Origi could start for the first time this season.
Joel Matip, Marko Grujic and Emre Can are expected to feature.
"We will make changes but not big changes, it is not really likely we change seven or eight positions," said Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
