Acting US Ambassador meets military vets at Anfield

Mr Lukens, along with a group of US Embassy officials, met with LFC Foundation staff and members of the Military Veterans programme to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of US-UK military cooperation.

The visitors learned about the Foundation’s work with the veterans and spent time chatting over a cup of tea, before heading out to play a friendly game of football at Admiral Park in Toxteth.

Mr Lukens said: “It was wonderful to visit the historic Liverpool Football Club and learn about the work the LFC Foundation is doing with UK veterans.

“It is important to honour the sacrifices our armed forces make on behalf of both of our nations By working side-by-side, they make the world more democratic, more prosperous and more just.
