Kasper Schmeichel claims 'overfamiliarity' may have led to Brendan Rodgers' departure from Leicester as former Foxes goalkeeper praises Craig Shakespeare, saying the assistant coach 'doesn't need an integration period'

Former Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has claimed that 'overfamiliarity' may have led to Brendan Rodgers' departure from the club.

Rodgers received much praise for his work at Leicester and guided the Foxes to FA Cup glory in 2021, but the club have struggled this season.

Early last month Rodgers left Leicester by mutual consent, with the club looking to ensure that they could avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Schmeichel, who played under Rodgers, praised his former boss but says that the message that a manager gives can lose its meaning eventually.
