Fleetwood Town chief Steve Curwood reveals bizarre story behind Jamie Vardy transfer which involves jury duty, a broken printer and an emergency trip to his father-in-law’s

The story of how Fleetwood Town chief executive Steve Curwood signed Jamie Vardy for £150,000 involves jury duty, a busted printer and an emergency trip to his father-in-law's.

Curwood got the transfer over the line in 2011 as Vardy scored 31 goals in 36 Conference games in his debut season to send Fleetwood to the Football League for the first time.

The striker was then sold in 2012 for £1million to Leicester City, the former Premier League champions who face Fleetwood in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.

This tie has caught the imagination with local pub The Strawberry Gardens selling a special 'Vardy's Return' ale and its selection for live TV worth £500,000 to League One Fleetwood.
