Kentucky added its eighth newcomer yesterday in former West Virginia forward Tre Mitchell. How significant is the addition? It was enough for two national writers to move Kentucky up in their preseason rankings, one into the top 20.
CBS Sports’ Gary Parrish had Kentucky at No. 25 following last week’s news that Antonio Reeves is returning for a final year. Now that the Cats are adding another veteran in Mitchell, a grad transfer, Parrish moved them up even further, eight spots to No. 17.
“This ranking is based on the Wildcats enrolling the nation’s top-ranked recruiting class featuring four five-star high school prospects – among them Justin Edwards, DJ Wagner and Aaron Bradshaw — plus West Virginia graduate transfer Tre Mitchell,” Parrish wrote.
