How 'Grove Street Party' became the unofficial anthem of Kentucky football

LEXINGTON – What has become an essential piece of the Kroger Field experience during the Mark Stoops era of Kentucky football almost ended as soon as it began.

Even if they do not know the name of the song, fans who have attended a UK game in the last eight years probably know the tune. At key momentum-swinging moments before third downs and kickoffs, the Kroger Field speakers blare “Grove Street Party” by Waka Flocka Flame, repeating the lyrics, “It’s a party, it’s a party, it’s a party!”

Flocka was in attendance for Kentucky’s win over Florida, the Wildcats’ first versus the Gators in Lexington since 1986.
