Behind Isaiah Johnson, the University of Akron men’s basketball team remained undefeated this past week with Mid-American Conference wins over Central Michigan and Miami. Johnson was rewarded Monday with his second MAC East Division Player of the Week award.
The senior center, who scored a career-high 33 points against the Chippewas, became the 42nd member of the Zips’ 1,000-point club. In Akron’s 74-70 win at Miami, Johnson scored eight points, including a key put-back with 2:25 to play to give the Zips (14-3, 4-0) the lead for good.
Johnson is the third Zip this season to be so honored.
