On the record: Kent State men’s golf team finishes in 21st place at NCAA championship

Kent State saw its season come to an end Sunday at the NCAA men’s golf national championship on the Rich Harvest Farms course in Sugar Grove, Ill.

The 11th-ranked Golden Flashes finished in 21st place with a 17-over score of 881 (289-293-299).

Kent State needed to place in top 15 to advance to match play, but came up 10 strokes short. The Flashes shot 7 over on holes 3-7 to fall out of contention.

Sophomore Bjarki Petrusson tied for 44th overall at 216 and senior Josh Whalen tied for 85th at 222. Whalen shot a team-best even-par 72 on Sunday.
