Growing pains hinder Tar Heel upset

It was another typical night for a not so typical K-State basketball team as the Wildcats fell to No. 9 North Carolina 70-60 in the championship game of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic.

Another freshman led the Wildcats in scoring as point guard Kamau Stokes was on fire all night, going 8-15 including 6-8 from behind the arc for a career high 24 points.

He would be named to the all-tournament team for his effort, a honor that just didn’t sit well with the freshman despite his coming out party.

“I was just thinking about the loss,” Stokes said.
