Sparingly used Dwight Coleby powers KU basketball past Texas, 77-67

AUSTIN, Texas — Has Dwight Coleby regained the explosiveness he lost when he tore an ACL 16-plus months ago?

That answer, Coleby said, should be clear to anyone who watched No. 3-ranked Kansas’ 77-67 victory over Texas on Saturday at Frank Erwin Center.

“Uh, yeah,” Coleby said with a smile. “Didn’t you see it?”

Indeed — and the sparingly used big was no small reason why the Jayhawks can again call themselves outright Big 12 champions.

Coleby scored 12 points and hauled in four rebounds in only 13 minutes off the bench, including a 10-point outburst in the first half, en route to the conference-clinching victory.
