Podcast: Does KU basketball's run in South Korea raise expectations for 2015-16?

LAWRENCE — Frank Mason is an American hero.

OK, that might be a bit much, but the soon-to-be junior point guard did come through in the clutch for the Jayhawks against Germany in the finals of the World University Games, scoring 18 points to lead Team USA to the gold.

Mason certainly has made a believer out of his coach Bill Self, at least.

“At game point, when it counted the most, we’ve got a little bulldog right there that can play as well as anybody,” Self said Wednesday. “He was a poodle when he got here.
