LAWRENCE — The second-loudest cheer from Kansas' volleyball players Sunday night came when they saw their name pop up on ESPN as the NCAA No. 9 national seed.
The loudest roar came a few seconds later, when those same players watched as Missouri appeared as a potential second-round opponent.
“If the opportunity arises, you know that gym will be extra loud,” junior libero Cassie Wait said with a grin.
First things first, of course. KU, which earned its highest national seed in school history, will face Furman (21-8) at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in its NCAA Tournament opener.
