KU football starting quarterback to remain mystery until season opener

When it comes to the Kansas football team’s most pressing question, David Beaty plans on keeping fans, media and, most importantly, his next opponent in the dark.

Will he clue his players in on the answer to the Jayhawks’ biggest mystery, though?

“We might,” the KU coach said. “We might not.”

Beaty made no announcement Monday regarding who will start at quarterback this fall for the Jayhawks, adding that, at least publicly, he will not reveal who will take the team’s snaps until KU’s opener against Rhode Island at 6 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

“We’re not going to name a starter,” Beaty said during the Big 12 football coaches teleconference.
