KU basketball's Svi Mykhailiuk trying to build on solid performance against Kansas State

LAWRENCE — In the three games before Wednesday’s clash with in-state rival Kansas State, Kansas sophomore Svi Mykhailiuk played for only one minute. His lone appearance came at the end of a blowout loss at Iowa State on Jan. 25.

Despite struggling to make his way onto the floor, coach Bill Self said Mykhailiuk has been thriving and making strides in practice. Self’s observation led to a brilliant outing for Mykhailiuk in the Jayhawks’ 77-59 victory over the Wildcats.

“I thought he played great,” senior Perry Ellis said. “He came out and played hard and that led to some good things for us.
