KU men’s basketball is set to tip off in Lawrence this Saturday at about 3 p.m. -- the same time that Democrats will caucus, prompting plans for a protest Monday.
Democrats upset that the game was scheduled at the same time as the caucuses will gather in the heart of the KU campus to demonstrate at 4 p.m. An online petition calling for a time change has gained 800 signatures.
Demonstrators are organizing the event on Facebook, and nearly 40 have committed to attending.
“A huge number employees of KU are put in the position of choosing to attend work or exercise their right to vote,” the page says.
